Monika's jewellery is predominantly made from recycled materials - including transformations from the humble otherwise throwaway coffee pod. She hand cuts, wire-wraps and hammers, using a combination of materials such as copper, aluminium and brass, wood, glass and wool.
The results are individual, articulated pieces, organic textured spirals, and flowing curlicues reminiscent of gothic and Victorian-era jewellery.
Monika paints in photographic detail, using oil on canvas, usually a person of fame as her subject matter. In black and white on block colour background she manages to capture all at once a softness and vulnerability behind each public figure's edginess.
By arrangement, Monika takes on commissions both for her jewellery design and her portraiture.
